Less than three decades after sales began, Kia has sold 10 million of their cars in the United States.
This is an impressive achievement and the company claims that it makes them “one of the greatest success stories in the auto industry” as well as “one of the fastest OEMs to reach the 10 million mark in America”.
The 10 Million car was a Runway Red EV6 sold by Car Pros Kia in Moreno Valley, California. It is interesting to note that the Milestone model was electric as Kia plans to launch an assortment of EVs in the future, including the newly redesigned Niro EV and the all-new EV9 crossover. There are even more EVs on the horizon because Kia wants to have a fully electrified lineup in the United States by 2040.

“Selling 10 million cars is a significant achievement and we at Kia are proud of not only how far we have come, but also of what we have in the future for sustainable dynamic leadership,” said Seunqiu (Sin) Eun, President and CEO of Kia America. He added that the company wanted to “repay in a meaningful way” so they marked milestones with a $ 10,000 (£ 7,954 / € 9,359) grant to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Freedom Service Dogs of America.
The buyers of the 10 million best models obviously got their EV6 for free and not only those groups benefited. He will also have supplemental access to future NBA and Kia forum events in the future.
Needless to say, 10 million units in less than 30 years is an impressive achievement when you consider that Kier had a bad start in America. The brand debuted in the United States with Sapphire, priced at $ 8,495 and was initially available at four Portland-area dealers.
Although the company started slowly, Sportage soon followed, and Kia’s dealership network grew rapidly as it had dealers in all 50 states except North Dakota by the end of the decade. Sales were low in the first few years, but the Kear lineup has expanded with models such as the Optima, Rio and Spectra 5.
Fast forward to today and the company currently offers 11 different models, including the popular K5 and Telluride. Kear also has a plant in Georgia and has built more than three million vehicles since production began in 2009.
