BMW is adding its fancy new giant screen to the interior of its car at breakneck speed, which it calls a ‘curved display’. After the 2023MY 3-Series and M3, the 2 Series also gets part of the technology, although it debuted less than a year ago.
The BMW Germany configurator now features the updated 2 Series, which comes with a huge screen that combines both the instrument cluster and the infotainment screen into a single unit powered by BMW’s latest infotainment software, iDrive 8.
Although they look like a single screen, the system is actually made up of two displays that are 12.3-inch behind the steering wheel and 14.9-inch between the front seat passengers. Although the instrument cluster is the same size as the system shown when the car was launched in the summer of 2021, the infotainment side of the unit was previously 10.25 inches much smaller.

In Europe, the least expensive models may previously be equipped with a bargain-basement infotainment system featuring a 5.1-inch instrument display and an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. That option is no longer available in the German configuration.
First configured by Beamer Today, the configurator also suggests that the new infotainment setup will also raise car prices. In April, the BMW 220i started at 40,700 (43,694 USD), whereas it now starts at € 42,800 ($ 45,948 USD), a significant price increase, though you get the standard curved display and iDrive8. Also, BMW has introduced a new base model in Europe, the 218i coupe which starts at € 39,400 in Germany (বিনি 42,298 USD at current exchange rate).
The 2022 BMW 2 Series debuted in July 2021 for a mixed reception, at least in terms of its styling. Performance should be more than acceptable even if opinions are divided on the new design. The 218i and 220i are powered by a 2.0-liter inline-four that previously produced 154 hp (115kW / 156 PS) and later 181 hp (135 kW / 183 PS). The M240i, meanwhile, is powered by a 3.0-liter inline-six that produces 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS).
