Polyester sponsor to find green textiles for the Global Fashion Summit


The Global Fashion Summit ends today in Copenhagen, Denmark, and Polyester was one of the main partners in the show. You may not be surprised to read that it was the only automaker to partner with the event, but there was a good reason to be there.

Polyester said his partnership with the show was a real decision to improve his business. Through the Global Fashion Summit, which brings together members of the fashion industry, policy makers and stakeholders from a variety of industries, the automaker hopes to find better materials for its vehicle interiors.

More specifically, it wants to find partners to join its Polyester 0 project. The goal of the project is to build a truly climate-neutral car by 2030 (before off-setting) and the textiles used inside the car are an important part of achieving that goal.

“The biggest obstacle to sustainable innovation is our lack of imagination – we need to rethink everything to make a real change. It starts with collaboration within and outside our industry,” said Frederica Claren, head of sustainability at Polyester. “Textiles and soft interior materials That, in turn, is a huge challenge in our quest for climate neutrality. “

Like the automotive industry, the fashion industry is a big polluter. Global Fashion Agenda CEO Frederica Marchionne says support for polyester and business can make a big difference for companies in the fashion industry.

“Polyester’s vision, especially when it comes to radical change rather than growing prosperity, is also an inspiration to the fashion industry,” said Marcionne. “For those working with sustainable materials and textiles, the search for polyester collaborations will be a great opportunity to explore and apply innovations in a new area and business.”

Similarly, Polyester argues that now that partners are looking, there is a lot of potential to reduce CO2 emissions. Working alone is not enough, says Claren; Cooperation across business and industry is vital to addressing a global concern.

“The fashion and automotive industries are the two heavy emitters of CO2e. Both industries share many complex challenges when it comes to sustainability, resource utilization, human rights and transparency,” says Clarence. “We’re in the ‘climate decade’ now and working on silos won’t cut it.”
