Spy photographers have already snatched the facelifted Mercedes A- and B-Class, and now we’re getting our first look at the updated GLA.
During a recent test, the front end of the facelifted crossover has a lightly modified wide grille attached to it by an updated headlight. The changes do not stand out immediately, but a closer inspection reveals the elements of long light.
We can also expect a new front bumper, but the camouflage does a good job of hiding the changes. Back out, there’s not much to see as only updated new graphics features will appear as modified taillights.

While spy photographers were only able to get a glimpse of the interior, we can expect a number of updates, including a streamlined center console that outweighs the heavy touchpad controller. The model may come with a new steering wheel as well as general trim and upholstery update.
The engine options should carry more, and this means Americans can expect the development of a well-known turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 221 hp (165 kW / 224 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm) of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which can be combined with an optional all-wheel drive system. Equipped with the latter, the GLA 250 can accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km / h) in 6.6 seconds.
Europeans can expect a more diverse engine lineup, including a range of petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid options. They should have an entry-level 1.3-liter four-cylinder gasoline with 134 hp (100 kW / 136 PS) and 147 lb-ft (200 Nm) of torque.
However, the plug-in hybrid is much more attractive because it combines a 1.3-liter engine with a 15.6 kWh battery pack and an electric motor. This setup gives the model a combined output of 215 hp (160 kW / 218 PS) and an electric-only WLTP range of up to 38 miles (61 km).
