SSC North America recently announced plans for an entry-level model known as the “Little Brother”, but it’s not the only new vehicle on the horizon.
Speaking to motor authorities, SSC CEO Jerod Shelby revealed that the company is working on an electrified version of the Tuatara that will be equipped with a front-mounted electric hub motor. This will increase the performance of the model as well as all-wheel drive.
While there was no word on the specification, Shelby told the publication that “electrification of the car would make it a better round car.” He added that it would also help improve vehicle acceleration and mobility.

Despite being Tuatara based, the electrified model may wear a different name when it reaches production. Although nothing has been decided, the company will only offer a “small production run” and the model will not be included in the limited run of 125 Tutors.
No word on when the model will arrive, but development is already underway and will probably use a familiar 5.9-liter V8 engine that develops up to 1,750 hp (1,305 kW / 1,774 PS) when running E85 or Methanol. The powerful powertrain recently enabled Tuatara to hit a maximum speed of 295 miles (475 km / h) at Florida’s Johnny Bohmer Proving Ground.
In other news, Shelby says the Tuatara striker will make his public debut this August at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering. The model was originally announced last year, alongside the track-only Tuatara Aggressor.
The Striker takes inspiration from the Multirole Strike Fighter aircraft and is equipped with a comprehensive aerodynamics package that includes a fixed wing with an active rear wing and a vertical stabilizer. They are joined by a front splitter, dive plane, aerodynamic side skirt and an extended diffuser. Thanks to all these changes, the downforce has tripled to about 1,100 pounds (499 kg) at 160 mph (257 km / m).
