The 2024 BMW X6 hides modest updates under a camouflage suite

Work continues on the 2024 BMW X6 as spy photographers build a prototype in and around Nuremberg during tests.

Equipped with heavy camouflage, the prototype doesn’t reveal much about the upcoming production model. However, the updates will focus on the front end and echo found in the Facelifted X5.

While the camouflage does a good job of hiding the changes, we can expect a modified grille and slimmer headlights. They will be accompanied by a new front bumper featuring a modified central adoption with angular support. We can expect edgier intakes and J-shaped air screens.

Additional changes are limited, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the upcoming production model is equipped with new taillights and updated wheels. We can also see what is seen as a modified drainage system.

Bigger updates to the cabin will occur as previous spy photos show the model will receive a new curved display, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment system. In addition to the new screen, we can expect a minimal shifter and updated switchgear.

Since this is a relatively minor update, the engine will probably carry options. As a result, we can expect a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder with 335 hp (250 kW / 340 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. It is powered by a well-known turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 that produces 523 hp (390 kW / 530 PS) and 553 lb-ft (750 Nm) of torque.

That being said, performance improvements are possible and it’s worth noting that the redesigned 7-Series has a twinpower turbo 3.0-liter inline-six developing 375 hp (280 kW / 380 PS) and 383 lb-ft (519 Nm) of torque. Similarly, the 4.4-liter V8 in the luxury sedan produces a healthy 536 hp (400 kW / 543 PS) and 553 lb-ft (749 Nm) of torque.
