Smart will open the British Order Book for the # 1 SUV in December and will initially offer electric cars in a special launch version limited to only 100 instances. Delivery will begin in mid-2023.
The carmaker unveiled the # 1 car rival in early April, as did Hyundai Nero EV and VW ID.3. It represents a dramatic departure from all other smart cars that may have come before it and is the first all-new, all-electric smart product to be launched since it bought a 50 percent stake in the Gili brand.
The special launch version model coming to the UK will be exclusively painted in white with a gold roof that incorporates an intricate checkered pattern. The Smart # 1 launch version will be equipped with a 19-inch prism alloy wheel while the cabin will feature several distinct trim colors and two-skin leather highlights.

“Smart # 1 represents the beginning of a new era for our brand,” said Smart CEO David Brown. “The exceptional design, exceptional space usage and extensive offer of connected solutions are a confidence-inspirer for customers and a strong signal of our intention to move our product portfolio forward. A special opportunity to experience our vision for a new generation of urban mobility
Smart has not yet announced the British price for the SUV.
Smart # 1 Powering is a single rear-mounted electric motor that pumps 264 hp and 252 lb-ft (343 Nm) of torque. Although other configurations have not been announced, the # 1 platform is designed to accommodate up to three electric motors. The motor is supplied with its juice in a 66 kWh battery pack which is good for a range of 273 miles (440 km).
