As the new generation Amarok continues to evolve, Volkswagen has released more publisher teasers for the pickup. The latest is a short video focusing on Amarok’s optional Matrix LED headlights, which will benefit from the company’s IQ.Light technology.
VW refers to the new Amarok as a “premium pickup”, a term that should be fair to the design and equipment. In this context, all Amarok trim levels will be standard with LED headlights, but the more expensive trims will have the same IQ as the rest of the VW range. Light Matrix will take it even further with LED technology.

The teaser reveals Amarok’s headlight graphics, exaggerating the computer-generated visuals and showing the countless LEDs inside them. Other features include an auto-dimming high beam that adjusts to oncoming traffic, street lights, or traffic lights, corner lights, and of course DRLs around clusters.
Volkswagen commercial vehicles promise that Amarok will introduce more technical features in the LCV segment. It has previously confirmed more than 30 ADAS, 10-way electrically adjustable seats, a digital instrument cluster, an exclusive sound system, and leather-looking surfaces with decorative stitching. We suspect that most of these features will be shared with the mechanically-related Ford Ranger.
In addition to teasing the design, VW has officially confirmed that the engine range will include a petrol and four diesel options with capacities between 2.0-liter and 3.0-liter and four or six cylinders. They will be integrated with RWD, on-demand AWD, or permanent AWD layouts.
The lineup will include entry-level Amarok, Mid-Range Life and Style, as well as two flagship trim-off-road-focused Panamericana and road-focused Aventura. We also know that the new Amarok will be 5,350mm (210.6 inches) tall, depending on the market, offered in four-door dual-cab or two-door-single-cab bodystyle.
We’ll learn more about the new generation of VW Amarok as we move closer to the official launch scheduled for the end of 2022.
